Story
I’m Staying in Alabama was a student-focused brand and statewide social campaign created to address the loss of top graduates to other states. By celebrating students and recent graduates who chose to build their futures in Alabama, the campaign reframed the state as a place of real opportunity. Through a storytelling contest and data-driven content, I’m Staying in Alabama elevated authentic voices and credible insights that challenged outdated perceptions and inspired others to see what’s possible right here.
The brand’s identity and messaging are essential to early adoption and long-term success. We grounded the visual system in tech-forward, modern design cues to build trust, signal momentum, and cut through the noise.
Color is one of our strongest identifiers, using screen-native hues to signal a digital, future-forward brand and stand apart from expected palettes. We extend it through dynamic gradients and shifting patterns that add motion and energy across every touchpoint.
We asked students and recent grads to send us their stories of why they were going to stay in Alabama. In under 3 months we received over 175 stories, and shared them on social through quotes and videos.
Our social strategy began with five key verticals: Opportunities, Financial, Outdoors, Innovation, and Quality of Life. For each of these verticals we created posts from student testimonials and national media rankings, as well as local storytelling and current events.
